The Visitor Visa story.
The morning of the 26th
we walk down to the embassy to apply for our visitor visa’s but are saddened to
find out that the person who “does the visas” is not in until the 27th.
Now we have to come back down here again
tomorrow. We wake up early as always and make a quick light breakfast then head
down to the Embassy, we are once again told that she is not in but for sure
will be back on Monday. We could also save some time, LOL, if we were to leave
all the documents required so that they could process the applications first
thing in the morning. The only issue is that we needed a letter from the
Canadian Embassy in addition to copies or our passports, copies of our entry
slips, copies of credit cards. So we zip over to the Canadian building which is
like Fort Knox.
The entry process into the Canadian Embassy is like going through airport security. Once inside the cold white concrete bunker of an Embassy,
a lady takes our passports and returns with an official looking letter, written
in Spanish, and sends us on our way. Back towards the Paraguay office, we drive
around in circles a bit looking for somewhere to get copies made (neither
embassy would make copies), we find a spot that also sells deli-style lunches.
We finally make it back to the Paraguay Embassy and drop off all the paperwork.
On Monday morning we head back one last time at the prescribed time of 11:00,
we are met by the same gentleman who apologizes that the visas are not ready
because he forgot to ask for our passports on Friday. The staff all work very
fast to get the two visas made before their 12:00 closing time.
Yay, we have
our visitor visas for Paraguay.
