Dec. 13 Osorno area
After a few emails it
has been determined that the shock was sent late yesterday and that it should
be back in Osorno by midday. This is good news but I am not holding my breath.
We make the 6 block walk one more time with hopes that the shock has arrived.
When we walk into the showroom there is a familiar looking box on the counter.
YAY it made it back. We say goodbye to Sonia after a little chat explaining
that we were not upset with her, only with the delivery company. So about $300
and ten minutes later I have the repaired shock installed.
Last thing is to do
is take it for a test ride.
From Osorno we head out to Volcano Osorno and the waterfalls
that are about 10km from there. Of course the volcano can be seen from afar but the waterfalls required a bit of searching. The signage is not very good but we
eventually find the correct road that leads us to within a 40 minute walk of
the falls.
There are a couple of little log bridges along the trail that make the walk fun.
The next stop on our agenda is a National Park that is
supposed to have 1500 year old trees. We circle the lake to Puerto Varas, which
is a very touristy beach town. From there a road is supposed to connect across
the freeway directly to the park. We find the road but it has been changed and
it no longer connects. The only alternative is to go to Puerto Montt and then
back north on the other side of the freeway. This would add considerable time
to the tour and it is already 7pm. We decide it would be best to head back to
Osorno which is just over 100km away and as with everything here it takes
longer than anticipated. By 9pm we are rolling into the hotel parking lot. The
bike worked great.
